Behind the plate at PNC Park

At the Rockies/Pirates game today in Pittsburgh I realized my allegiance lies with Colorado Rockies, not the Pittsburgh Pirates. It had nothing to do with the fact that the Rockies won 8-4. It also had nothing to do with the fact that the Pirates haven't had a winning season in almost 20 years. Going into today, I thought I might automatically just like the Pirates again, and it would feel 'natural' to root for them, since I grew up a Pirates fan and all. And once your a Pittsburgh fan, you never really 'betray' your team no matter where you move to, right? Wrong. From the first pitch on I felt right at home rooting for the Rockies. I punked out on wearing my Kaz Matsui jersey because I was with family and didn't want to take anything away from the day by having to deal with annoying trash talk (next time). I still wish the Pirates the best and they'll be my second favorite team - but when someone asks who my baseball team is, "Rockies" is coming out without hesitation. Rocktober is definitely to blame.

If you visit the link above, you'll see the perfect example of how to sell an album. Beautiful website design, clear bundle options, obvious social media links, personal message, integrated Twitter stream, complimentary videos, and fair prices. It's becoming common to offer a deluxe, 'expensive' option for hardcore fans. Can you think of a cooler deluxe item than a real synthesizer specially created for the album release? I certainly can't.

Kiln - Fyrepond

From their 2007 album Dusker.

This is my favorite album on the planet to listen to while working. I honestly feel like it makes me smarter. It's interesting without being distracting, and it keeps me in a rhythm. It's not surprising that a track by them was included in Ghostly's Music for Creatives compilation, which I strongly recommend downloading (it's free).
